Sophie Beaty
At only 15 years old, Sophie Beaty has already proved herself to be one to watch for the future. With a wealth of accomplishments Sophie has made a name for herself amongst the Eventing world and Holland Cooper cherishes the opportunity to sponsor such a talented young rider.
2010 has been a successful year so far for Sophie with a team Gold for her and the rest of the British team at the European Pony Eventing Championships. Sophie narrowly missed out on an individual medal at the championships, being placed 0.3 marks behind the bronze medal position. Her accomplishments this year do not stop there, at Weston Park Pony Trial Sophie was placed 1st and 8th, and came 2nd at the British National Pony Three Day Event Championships.
2009 did not disappoint either with a 2nd at Weston Park Pony Trial and a 3rd at Withington Park Pony Trial (one of two final trials). It was also an exciting time when Sophie was selected to represent Britain at Necarne Pony 2* Three Day Event in Ireland where she led the dressage. 2009 saw Sophie qualifying for Horse of the Year Show but she unfortunately has one pole down in her Working Hunter Pony class.
2009 was however not the first time that Sophie has qualified for HOYS, in 2005 aged just 10 Sophie came 3rd in her Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter Pony class. The major shows have always been a feature of Sophie’s riding career, with numerous wins from a young age. Sophie has dominated the Gold Cup at BSPS’s summer champs with wins in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. 2005 was no less of an achievement either with Sophie attaining the Champion and Reserve Champion of Champions at BSPS. 2006, aged just 11 Sophie came 1st in her Working Hunter Pony class at Royal International.
As a longstanding member of Fitzwilliam Pony Club Sophie and her team gained a 2nd place in the open PC evening champs 2009 where Sophie also achieved a 3rd place individual result.
Sophie has been fortunate enough to be trained by Charlotte Bathe (former Team Gold World/European Medallist and Burghley winner) and the legendary Ruth McMullen who has trained numerous young riders over the years including Pippa Funnell.
Sophie’s short career has been filled with outstanding achievements and her future ambitions are no less challenging. Sophie’s next aim is to gain a place on the British Pony Trial Team for the European Championships in 2011 and then to progress on to the Junior British Team Squad.
Holland Cooper wishes Sophie the best of luck for the rest of 2010 and wishes her a successful and exciting 2011.
